The Count
Limited Edition Medieval War Sword
(Oakeshott Type XIIIa)
Another great
war sword of Type XIIIa, but of more slender proportions than our Duke.
This shares the same blade as our Ritter, but with this long grip it tips
the balance to becoming a XIIIa. This is a more ornate version of our
Steward XIIIa war sword.
An octagonal pommel (available in either bronze or steel) of type I1 echos
the distinct shapes of the unusual cross: a version of style 2 but with
small beveled swellings in the middle of each arm. This cross is inspired
by a remarkable sword found in the
banks of Fyris river in Uppsala, Sweden.
The grip also has eight planes and a riser in the middle as a support
for the hand. Mounted in a hilt with a long grip like this the blade becomes
very agile and quick.
