Seax Used as both "work" knife and weapon, the scramasax was widely used by the Saxons and the Vikings. Historically the blade size and shape varies, but it is clear that the shape of the scramasax had an influence on later knives such as the dirk, and one could even argue, the bowie knife. Our version is loosely patterned after a Thames River find with a blade of 5160 steel and a simple walnut handle which is fixed to the tang. The knife sits edge up in its leather and bronze scabbard.
