Roman Ridge Helm

Roman Ridge Helm

This helm is a reproduction of a standard ridge style helm worn by legionnaires and cavalry in the 4th Century CE. These helms were manufactured in great numbers during the late Roman Empire. Simple in construction, they consist of two half bowls held together by a central ridge (Drawings of similar helms can be seen in the Osprey book Late Roman Infantryman 236-565 AD. This style of helm was copied by many Northern smiths as can be seen in the famous "Sutton Hoo" Anglo-Saxon helm of the same design. Made exclusively for Albion by International Steelcrafts (India) from 16 and 18 gauge steel. Please specify head circumference when ordering to assure closest fit.
